Some RWC Questions
#1

Im getting a roadworthy done next week and just wondering some specifics of it.
Firstly do they worry about exhaust noise? I've got a straight through 3" trust exhaust on my r33 gtr which is as loud as buggery. I dont think there was a section on rwc's on my last 3 cars, perhaps a epa thing?
And also whats the go with carbon fibre hoods in vic? I'm thinking this is more the engineering aspect of the car. I've read through pages and pages on sau about them and came to the conclusion that they're in the "grey area" - neither legal or illegal.
Anyway bottom line is im wondering will these make me fail the rwc?
Oh and if anyone has any suggestions on places for roadworthy's in eastern suburbs it'd be great, around the lilydale area.
Pretty sure my usual mechanics (k-mart in croydon), thrash my cars when i take them there (and they missed a cracked head in my old 32, wtf?)
Cheers,
Ash

Yes i used to take my car there, pretty much didn't give a crap about it and i was on a tight budget.
Definately need a better mechanic for the gtr though I reckon!

During a road worthy the vehicle must be upto Standards, Most of them things will fail.
Exhaust - Must be under the vicroads/epa DB limit, a straight through will fail, Get stock unit, or get silencers.
Hood - Take it off put stock unit back on, less headache if you do get told for stock unit, AFAIK all aftermarket hoods must be ADR approved to be 'Street Legal'

If you were on a tight budget, why didnt you just do it yourself, cost like 100$ MAAAX in oils and filters and spark plugs and whatever else you may want to change, and DIY. save more money!

Yeah i think silencers are pretty much the only option, bought it with the exhaust on it and stock ones are impossible to find.
Also with the hood i bought that with the car, again stock ones are non-existant. Anyone can slap a adr sticker on a bonnet, i've gone through countless pages about carbon fibre hoods and no matter who made it and all that you can still be given a defect even if it is "adr approved". I'll just cross my fingers, i think its the best option lol.
Thanks for the help

Go onto SAU(SkylinesAustralia) and ask to borrow somebodys exhaust/hood im sure people will let you borrow gear for a 6pack

If it comes down to it i'll have to try to sort out something, but obviously avoiding the hassle is much better.
And it'd actually probably be easier to get a exhaust silencer also than source out a stock exhaust.

Unless u can make it sound like a mouse, get rid it for the rwc, borrow 1
Carbon bonnet is also a fail
it changes the structure of the car and the ability to absorb damage in a collision, be it a another car or a person therefore marking it unsafe (or not as safe)
way around it.... get your stuff ADR approved... dodge mechanic... or dodge rwc...

Well they missed the bonnet as well as the exhaust noise, so obivously they aren't a real big deal.
They picked up a oil leak, front bar needed re-mounting, number plate lights gone, and front suspension needed raising (too easy with adjustables)
Win!
