  1. Some advice on Mod legality

Oh, cheers. It was actually visible on the sites welcome page but not when I went into the classifieds. Its actually not a big deal anyway, I think I'm going to keep the car now, as I think its not going to cost me much to get roadworthy and on the road. Also to get all the goodies I want to complete it is going to cost bugger all too. Its funny how working on a car again after not touching it for a long time inspires you to keep it or do more work on it. Bloody cars :-)
  2. Some advice on Mod legality

Oh bugger, well it sounds like not much has changed after all! :-) I've been thinking about getting another import, something non turbo and low maintenance. A very stock Toyota Trueno would be a nice daily driver, and perhaps save the S13 for weekends. How about non facrory boot spoilers? GT wings etc.
  3. Hey guys, I've been out of the loop with cars for a long time, and it seems quite a few things have changed. Rules for P platers and turbos have a been the most obvious big change I've picked up on, but I'm just wondering what other changes have been made to modification laws, what's legal and what's not. I'm in Victoria, by the way, and I'm on my full license. Are A pillar gauges still illegal? Is minimum ride height still 100mm? Noise, is it 90db at 4000rpm for a 4cyl? Open blow off valves still illegal? Pod style air filters? Carbon / Fiber Glass bonnets and boot lids? I've been really surprised at the drop in prices of not only cars, but also parts. So I'm seriously considering keeping my S13 and finishing it off how I originally imagined. Also, the ad I posted in the classifieds section has disappeared, which is weird. Anyway, what is the attitude towards imports by police these days? Have they gotten a bit more understanding instead of being completely ignorant and defecting them on the spot because they have no idea what they're doing? It seemed as if every time I took my car out, a cop would see me and pull me over just because it was an import. I don't see as many imports on the road these days, and I'm curious if that's because I'm simply not noticing them, or have things gotten bad and people are avoiding them? Cheers.
  4. Hello all, I'm a long time member here, but i have not posted anything for a very long time. I have a 1992 S13 that i've owned for about 14-15 years. I'm the first person to own it in Australia, but unfortunately its been very un loved over the last 5 years. A combination of personal issues, lack of funds, motivation.. you name it, seen this car go unused for a long time. I really wish i had the money and time to devote to it now, but i simply don't have the money and i've lost my interest in cars. The car has been kept under a veranda, but the afternoon sun has managed to do its nasty on the dash and the paint. The roof is probably the worst affected, with the clear coming off in quite a few places, but for someone with the time and skill, it wouldn't be too hard to fix. The dash just needs a mat to cover it up. I'll try to list everything that's been done to the car and what's included. Its been a very long time since i played with it though, so i might forget a few things. I'll update the post later if i think of anything. Engine & Gearbox: Stock, very nice low km's SR20DET fitted. Genuine 90,000 km's. Mines computer. EXeddy 500hp button clutch. Short shift kit. Blitz blow off valve. ARC Aluminum Airbox. Large Hybrid intercooler kit. Fuel pump upgraded to RB20 Turbo spec pump. Modified 3" Apexi exhaust system. Cat is a high performance Tanabe Cat. I have another very large Jun style muffler that i had planned to fit. Its a huge canon with a trumpet tip. I never got around to fitting it, so it comes with both. Suspension, Brakes & Wheels: 5 bolt hubs. R32 4-Piston Calipers on front, with DBA slotted rotors. R33 2-piston calipers on rear. (Whole R33 kframewas fitted) Front and rear calipers reconditioned with new kits and painted gold and red like R34 Brembos. Larger master cylinder fitted. Adjustable rear upper arms. Adjustable caster arms. Heavy Duty adjustable tie rods. Front Camber adjustment plates. Front and Rear Strut Braces Tanabe Sustec Pro Coilovers. Very low and very hard, but the handling is worth it. Its like a go kart! Car is currently fitted with standard stuts. R32 GTS-T wheels, powdercoated gunmetal grey (x4). Two of these are on the front. R32 GT-R wheels (x2) on back, these are powdercoated the same color. Spare front pads included. Interior: Blitz BL Black Light Oil Pressure Gauge Blitz BL Black Light Water Temp Gauge, both mounted in an A-pillar pod. Blitz digital Boost Gauge + Turbo Timer Digital LCD Climate Control (nice bonus from the front cut) Addzest Max2255 double din head unit. Nice classic japanese unit. Recaro recliner passenger seat. Recaro Fixed bucket for Driver. (not fitted, need to modify rails) Toms Racing Harnesses for driver. Comes with standard seats too. Original plush Nissan silvia floor mats as well, which is nice. Exterior: Carbon fiber motorbike style mirrors. GT-R style vented grille. Nissan factory side skirts and front lip extension. I have no way of verifying, but the man i bought the car off told me they came off a genuine Nissan Factory Sileighty!! Pretty darn cool if its true. He didn't seem like the type to make it up. Front lip has seen much better days. Fiberglass copy of a Vertex front bar. This is not fitted or painted. Body is very straight with just a couple of very small dimples here and there. There are a few scuff marks on the boot lid where a duck-tail spoiler was fitted. There is no rust patches on the car. Only the odd stone chip that's got a bit of light surface rust on it. A good clean anda cut and polish will do wonders for the finish, but a respray will be needed to really bring her back to life. The colour is midnight blue with a light purple pearl through it in the right light. I'm sorry for the cheeky "just washed" photos. I was going to shammy it off to show the paint issues better, but it started raining before i finished taking the photos anyway. I'll take some more when its dry to show the problem areas. I'll provide the car with a REVS check to prove the car has no Encumbrance (finance), no stolen records and no written off records. Also a Vic Roads check that proves no outstanding defects, warrants or fines. The car is very much driveable, but not right now. The back right tyre is knackered and shitty stripped lock nuts from all the wheels were removed, so its missing a nut on each wheel. The seats need to be bolted back in, and a very compact battery is needed, as the new intercooler pipes leave no room for a regular small battery. She starts no problem and runs beautiful, and would not take a motivated person with a little bit of time and cash to get it back on the road. $5000 Car is located in Bendigo Victoria. Please PM me for more info or contact details. Cheers.
  5. $1000 Reward for Information

I farkin hate car thieves! I'm in Bendigo, if i see or hear anything around these parts i'll be all over it. Hope you get it back.

If people are going to get so worried about people browsing the forums looking for pics of suspicious cars and taking the number plates, then why not change the registration system for the site? Make it so new members must be refered by another member. It might be a little hard to do now, but its a thought. Also, whats the fine if you get caught driving with no reg? When i got caught about 2 years back, it was $500. Whats rego cost a year? If you only get caught once a year..
  7. Thanks heaps guys! Is that your car sini69? That front bar is really nice, gives the car a really nice stylish look. It reminds me of a kid veilside made for a ferrari.
  8. I have an S13 silvia and its midnight blue. I'm having trouble finding the color code for the paint so i can buy some more. Anyone help? Thanks guys.
  9. Well its the only thing i can think of. I've done nothing to blow a fuse as the car has not been connected to the battery and has not been driven for two weeks. Ill check the fuses, perhaps conecting the battery blew a fuse.
  10. This is the only thing i have changed and i have read about cars not starting if things like mirrors, indicators and lights are disconected. Does anyone know how this can be fixed? Is there a tutorial available somewhere? I've had a look around but have not found anything, any help will be greatly appriciated. Thanks guys.
  11. window washer bottle problem

Haha, nice. I wish ctrl+z worked for everything! I have an s13 silvia and i have heaps of room, can someone post a pic of what it look like for the 180's? I'd like to see.
  12. Buddy Club Coilovers

I think you will find that to some extent japanese made coilovers wont differ much. Buddyclub is a good well known brand, you could do alot worse. The big difference with coilovers is in the spring rates and damper settings, not so much the brand. If you liked the performance of a certain brand of coilover, but didnt like the build quality, get a better brand with the same rate springs and damper settings. I have tanabe sustec pro's in my s13 silvia, the only reason i'm looking at changing is because my s13 has an r33 rear end and i want stuts with the threaded lower mounts, so i can swap the s13 mounts with ones from r33 struts. I'm not 100% sure it can be done though. Anyone know if it can be done?
  13. Yeah i did check hes feedback and honestly both the negative things are understandable. Both could have been the fault of the buyers.
  14. Arab car of the year? What the hell was it up against? Have you seen the standard of living in most Arab cities? Its a camel or a commodore. I suppose it would make a pretty good IED. (improvised explosive device)
  15. It went something like this: "Hey what brand are these mirrors are they Origin? Do you have any other pics or a link to the Origin website? Are the mirrors made from actual carbon fibre or are they carbon look? Thanks" He's replay was simply: "They are carbon fibre" An honest person would assume that if they were not made from carbon fibre hes reply would be "They are carbon look" Wouldnt you agree?
